Woman Joanne Penney K!lled in Talbot

A 40-year-old woman who was fatally shot at a property in Green Park, Talbot Green, has been named locally as Joanne Penney. 💔
The incident occurred on Sunday evening in the Rhondda Cynon Taf area, with South Wales Police confirming that a 42-year-old man from Talbot Green has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.
Police officers are continuing their investigation at the scene, with multiple crime scenes established in the area. Road closures remain in place as evidence is gathered.
Detective Chief Inspector James Morris said: “I understand the concern this will cause the local community, and I want to reassure people that a team of experienced detectives are already working at pace to piece together the events of last night.”
The shooting has left residents of the town, located approximately ten miles north-west of Cardiff, deeply shocked.
Local councillor Sarah Jane Davies noted that recent events in the area had caused “concern and alarm” in the community.
Calum Williams, who lives just two doors from where the incident took place, recounted hearing the gunshot: “It’s terrible. I live just two doors down from where it happened. I was making a bottle for the baby and I heard a gunshot. It’s pretty frightening, especially with the baby.”
Nearby resident Carolyn Pugh described the rapid police response: “It was scary. Within seconds, they [police] were everywhere. You didn’t know what was happening but you knew there was something bad. I’ve been here about 28 years and it was never like this.”
Anthony Dando, 59, a local resident, expressed his shock: “We’ve had trouble around here before but never with a gun. It’s frightening that sort of thing happens so close to your front door. It’s shocking to hear what happened to the girl. It’s so sad for her family and our thoughts are with them.”
