About the Fellowship
The Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellowship is a five-month, fully funded, non-degree program designed for postdoctoral scholars and mid-career professionals. Hosted by the International Forum for Democratic Studies, this fellowship allows participants to focus on research or professional development in the field of democracy and human rights.
Fellows are based in Washington, D.C., and are given the time, resources, and support needed to deepen their understanding and work on democracy-related challenges in a specific country or region.

Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the fellowship, applicants must:

Track-Specific Requirements:
Practitioner Track:

Mid-career professionals with significant experience promoting democracy or human rights

Must have a clearly defined project relevant to their work
Scholarly Track:

Hold a Ph.D. or equivalent at the time of application

Have a strong publication record

Present a well-developed research proposal
Additional Requirements:

Propose a project focusing on political, legal, cultural, economic, or social aspects of democratic development

Be available for full-time residency in Washington, D.C., for either of the two terms:

Cannot hold any other job or fellowship during this period
Visa Requirement:

Non-U.S. citizens must obtain a J-1 exchange visitor visa

Family members must apply for J-2 visas
