The Barangay Captain of Daan Suyan, Malapatan, Sarangani Province, is now in police custody after shooting his secretary, who is also his stepdaughter.
The suspect has been identified as Captain Elezalde Segafu, and the victim was identified as Theresa Mae Calay.
In the same incident, the suspect’s nephew, named Micksel, was also injured after being hit by gunfire.
Based on initial information, the individuals involved had reportedly attended a birthday party of a CAFGU member, but due to being under the influence of alcohol, the captain suddenly shot his secretary.
According to the Malapatan Municipal Police Station, jealousy was allegedly the motive behind the shooting.
